Service for users

Beginning immediately, all free download patterns on burdafashion.com are available only to registered users. It only takes a few minutes to complete your profile under
“My burda” and then you can take advantage of this free service. All your personal data, such as your name, address, birthday, etc. serve only to help burdafashion.com protect their creative platform from misuse. This data is not available to other users and it is not shared with third parties. Other users only have access to profile information, such as interests, hobbies, and user names. This is in the interest of making the burda sewing community a lively, active community.
<b>Step 1</b>
Step 1
Under DOWNLOADS, select the pattern of your choice and click on the photo.

Do you want to download a Premium pattern? Then click first on here before you continue with step 2!
<b>Step 2</b>
Step 2
On the page for your chosen model, you will find the various files that you need for your pattern, in PDF-format. In some cases, the English sewing instructions are included in the pattern file. In other cases, especially when the pattern is available in several languages, the English instructions must be downloaded as a separate file. Based on technical considerations, an individual pattern may be available for each size or the pattern can be downloaded as a multiple-size pattern.
Now select the pattern for your size and the instructions in the desired language and save the file(s) on your computer.

<b>Step 3</b>
Step 3
You can open the saved PDF-file with Adobe Reader. In case you do not yet have this program installed in your computer, you can first download it free, here.
After you have opened the file, please go first to the Overview of printed pages. Attention: This is not always on the first page. To find it quickly, click on the image in the upper left corner to show the thumbnail images of all pages, in a column. Select the overview of the printed pages and check on which page of the pattern the control square (see arrow) can be found. The control square is used to test whether or not your printer prints the pattern in the correct size. Now open the page which contains the control square.
<b>Step 4</b>
Step 4
First print only the page with the control square. Then use a ruler to check that the side edges of the printed square measure exactly 10 cm. If the square does not measure exactly 10 cm, check the settings for your printer. The side scale must equal 100%. Deactivate the function which automatically adapts the page to the paper size or the area to be printed. When printing on an Apple-Macintosh computer, a message may appear that the page is too large for the area to be printed and you will be offered the options “Reduce” or “Trim”. For the download pattern, select the “Trim” option, so that the scale remains at 100%.
<b>Step 5</b>
Step 5
When the control square has been properly printed with a side edge of 10 cm, you can then print the entire pattern.
<b>Step 6</b>
Step 6
Use the overview page to help you lay out all pages of the pattern in the correct positions. Make sure that the matching number/letter markings lie together.
<b>Step 7</b>
Step 7
Now you can trim the individual pages. Tip: Trim only the left edge of each page, leaving a strip of paper for gluing on the right edge.
<b>Step 8</b>
Step 8
Now the trimmed pages can be glued together, row by row.
<b>Step 9</b>
Step 9
When gluing the rows together, also trim away the extra paper on the upper edge of the second row (and any following rows) – the lower row can then be easily glued onto the lower edge of the upper row.
<b>Step 10</b>
Step 10
Now your pattern is done! If it is a multiple-size pattern, find the lines for your size and cut the pattern pieces out along these lines. If it is a pattern for only one size, there will be only one line – so you can cut out your pattern pieces right away!
