Facing
This means stitching two pieces of fabric together and then turning them so that the seam allowance is enclosed, e.g. two pocket pieces, upper and lower collar or front and facing. Place the two pieces of fabric with right sides together. Pin together the edges to be faced and stitch along the marked seam line. Trim seam allowance back to about ½ cm. Around curves, snip into seam allowance several times almost up to line of stitching. For points, clip into the point almost to the seam; on collar corners, cut across the seam allowance. Turn the fabric pieces so that the wrong sides are together and the edge seam allowances are enclosed. Then baste the faced edge and press, remove basting and press again.
