The sweet sixties

Youthful charm

Straight silhouettes, sharp-cornered lapels, and geometric designs were the trademarks of André Courrèges. Suits in his unique style appeared next to afternoon dresses in the sophisticated artichoke-look from Pierre Cardin or the legendary mini-skirt by Mary Quant. Gloves, stiletto heels, and pearl necklaces were "must-have accessories" of this fashion decade.
The exciting fifties
The return of femininity

Flowers, polka dots, border prints – and all in bright colors. The fifties signaled the return of the romantic look! Pleated or bell-shaped, full-circle or balloon, with walking slit or inverted pleat – skirts and dresses were the biggest trend of the fifties, accenting feminine lines.
