Fabric recommendations

When choosing your fabric, always make sure that it conforms to the fabric recommendation (always given in the sewing instructions in burda World of Fashion and in individual sewing patterns) for your selected garment.

The width of the fabric should also be the same as that given in the sewing instructions for your pattern. A different fabric width would mean that you need a different amount of fabric than that given in the instructions and there is no easy way to calculate this difference. If you do want to buy a fabric with a different width, try this: Fold a flat bed sheet to the width of your desired fabric. Lay all pattern pieces on the sheet – making sure that the straight grain lines are all aligned properly – and measure the total amount of fabric needed.
