HOW TO SHORTEN OR LENGTHEN PATTERNS....
Sometimes it seems bewitched – your favorite style isn’t offered in your size! But that’s not a problem. We’ll show you examples of how to “stretch” patterns in petite sizes to standard sizes and how to shorten standard sizes to fit petite women. The most important thing to remember for the best fit is that the pattern measurements for bust, waist, and hips correspond to your measurements.
SHORTENING PATTERNS
The pant legs are too long or the waist of dress or jacket is too low. If you are approx. 1.60 m (5 feet 3 inches) tall, these problems probably sound familiar. If you sew your self, you can solve these problems – by adjusting sewing patterns to match your height!
THE PROBLEM: Large bust
Low necklines are the essence of summer – and a little cleavage is allowed! But cup D and larger can cause a top or dress to fit too tightly across the bust. In this workshop we show you how to adjust a pattern to fit a large bust.
THE PROBLEM: High waist
This season, fashion emphasis is on the waist. If you don't quite fulfill the “golden mean”, but have a shortened upper body, it's time to make some adjustments to your pattern!
THE PROBLEM: Narrow waist, wide hips
A narrow waist is really attractive! But when the hips are relatively wide in proportion, the waistbands on skirts and pants often cause problems. In this workshop, we show you how to adjust the difference
THE PROBLEM: If you have a little too much tummy ...
The waistband slides down, the crotch seam is too short and it cuts into the body. A little too much tummy is especially noticeable when you are wearing pants/trousers. What‘s the solution? Adjusting the sewing pattern to fit your body. Here we show you how this is done.
